I think it is dead obvious what is going on here in America — the rapid march to a totalitarian police state under the guise of “security”.
The very notion of terrorists in our midst using public transportation systems, entering into public buildings is not based upon any facts whatsoever. It’s sheer mindless sheepwashing.
The hoopla over the airport underwear sniffing was the rather poorly managed way to soften up Americants to what comes next: Courthouses, trains, boats, metro, busses, and other public places will now have “full body scanners” installed.
“The next step in tightened security could be on U.S. public transportation, trains and boats.
Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano says terrorists will continue to look for U.S. vulnerabilities, making tighter security standards necessary.
€œ[Terrorists] are going to continue to probe the system and try to find a way through,€ Napolitano said in an interview that aired Monday night on “Charlie Rose.” Next step for body scanners could be trains, boats, metro
Two state courthouses in Colorado have already deployed full-body scanners that use radiowaves that can detect all objects on a person, including paper. Full-body scanners popping up at courthouses
This is the real reason the TSA is not backing down — they’ve been ordered not to. And we already know by who.
You have a tiny, tiny TINY chance yet remaining to stop this. If we miss this last opportunity, you know what happens next.
“The terrorists have learned our tactics and have now resorted to using private transportation. To combat this threat, we are going to begin performing random vehicle checks on America’s highways and streets with mobile scanners used to detect bombs, guns or other destructive devices“.
Far-fetched? Hardly. They’re already doing this:
The encroaching Big Brother nightmare has escalated even further with a recent announcement that the U.S. government has purchased mobile X-ray vans to scan people and vehicles at sporting events, road stops and even at random. The initiative is part of alleged counter-terror efforts that include improving the ability to detect bombs, weapons and other contraband that may potentially be used in a terrorist attack.
And when this doesn’t turn up the “expected results”?
“The terrorists are now hiding in homes in our neighborhoods, threatening our safety and security. To mitigate this threat, we are going to start performing random home checks of suspected terrorist activity or connections throughout America. Our goal is to make America safe for Americans, and we are sure that Americans will agree with this need. We will be looking for the usual suspects of course, including bomb making chemicals or explosive devices, firearms or weapons caches, stockpile food or anything that a terrorist might use to harm Americans. We ask all Americans to cooperate with this security initiative and report any suspicious activity that needs our investigation.”
Far-fetched? It’s already happening:
Be on the lookout, warn the FBI, the Department of Homeland Security, and the National Counterterrorism Center, for such €œindicators of possible terrorist activity€ as €œbehavior that could indicate participation in surveillance of potential targets,€ €œtravel or interest in traveling overseas to attend violent extremist institutions or paramilitary camps,€ or checking out €œwebsites and reading materials that advocate violence and then initiating action in support of this activity.€ See something? The Terrorism Information and Prevention System, or TIPS, means the US will have a higher percentage of citizen informants than the former East Germany through the infamous Stasi secret police. The program would use a minimum of 4 per cent of Americans to report “suspicious activity”.
Down the Memory Hole: Operation TIPS Website Deleted. At some point prior to 20 November 2002, the federal government deleted the portion of the Citizen Corps Website dealing with the citizen-snitch program Operation TIPS. This was undoubtedly because the Homeland Security Act, which had passed the House at that point, specifically canned TIPS. Section 808 of the act, which became federal law, states: “Any and all activities of the Federal Government to implement the proposed component program of the Citizen Corps known as Operation TIPS (Terrorism Information and Prevention System) are hereby prohibited.” (Of course, this doesn’t prohibit a similar program with a different name from being created.)
There is much, much more available for anyone who is interested enough to look this up. The agenda is clear, the future never looked so dim.
