The Beauty of The Earth

That’s my greenhouse. It’s a giant igloo right now. But it’s a gorgeous day today.

The snow is a couple of feet deep here. This shot was taken a few days ago.

Those weird mounds are my horse trough garden boxes.

This is one of the reasons why I choose to fight. The Earth is beautiful, even where some humans live.

I’ve had to plow a lot this year, I feed the deer under that overhang.

I’m just not willing to give up on this. It’s one of the things that make life worth living. The beauty of the Earth. I didn’t want to entertain you with pictures from exotic locations (where I don’t live) or places I’ll never even get to visit. This is my home. Your home. I’m not going to give up on it or the life within it.

What a spectacularly scenic place you have. The air looks so crisp you can almost feel it from here.

What length of driveway do you have to plow to get out to shop if need be? Do you have an agreement with any neighbors, or does it all fall on you?

After spending a winter in Fairbanks many years ago and enduring 50 below, I couldn’t wait to get back to the more temperate western Cascades, and I salute your fortitude in dealing with that same kind of cold where you are.

I have about a mile of my own driveways to plow out. Running out of places to put the snow. The neighbors wait for me to do the common road (usually) or someone else to ‘try it’ (they’ve done a pretty poor job). That’s another mile of road. Neighbors are incredibly lazy (imo) and do next to nothing around here for maintenance or improvements.
