No More Food

It’s been obvious for years that the world’s food supply is at severe risk from climate change and other effects, including drought, severe weather and infestation. The same situation applies to the world’s oceans which are nearly out of fish.

Global Fisheries Are Collapsing

What is astounding is how very little aware people are of these collapsing food sources. The world will flat run out of things to eat sometime in our lifetimes, but very little is being done. And it appears (to me) that almost nobody even cares.

None of this is news on this blog, it’s been documented before, but the situation is worse then ever. The Great Barrier Reef in Australia is going to be entirely lost – and soon. Reefs are critical to the survival of the oceans, but this bleaching is happening all over the world. Once gain, nothing can be done (lots of hand-wringing and anguish and ‘calls for action’ but it won’t make any difference now, it’s far, far too late).

Humanity is sleepwalking its way towards the Apocalypse, unfolding now on a daily basis. Long before humans die of heat stroke, they’ll be dying by the millions from starvation. Dehydration will also kill hundreds of millions too.

The planet is that screwed up.

While perhaps not untrue in the literal way it was written, the final paragraph in Jamail’s “Global Fisheries are Collapsing” reeks of hopium. Not a surprise, more of a disappointment–so many articles have to shove that in there. Ironically, like deus ex machina in an article of science fact that needs to finish as children’s fiction.
Daily, we’re realizing ever more about the extent of global devastation, at an ever faster pace, but it is as though in a rearview mirror. We’re not going to collectively come to some great, compassionate understanding, with each and all of us changing our ways. Every day, seems the clarion of gets louder, and every day, it seems so many get along fine being deaf. Would be nice to join them…can’t, though.

Every day, there are hundreds of worthy articles to share revealing the sheer hopelessness of our situation. I don’t have the inclination to do anything more then simply read them. Anyone that truly wants to know, already knows. The rest, well, they don’t care enough anyway, or they’ve drank the kool-aid and have convinced themselves it’s not that bad. But it is. And it continues to get worse, inexorably accelerating towards the worst.

“Energy & Environment says that proved conventional oil reserves as detailed in industry sources are likely “overstated” by half.”

And there is also ‘Peak Timing’ – We run out of critical resources all at the same time. Then we resort to cannibalism (the strong will survive – for a ‘peak’ while) while ‘Peak Humans’ catastrophically collapse.

“Humans behave no differently than bacteria in a Petri dish or yeast in a vat, voraciously consuming without awareness – nary an actual thought – the source of our sustenance (existence) and consequently exponentially overpopulating out Petri dish we call Earth. BTW, the Vedic (Sanskrit) word “Nirvana” literally translates to “extinction”. Bye bye Bipeds

The good news: “Reality is an illusion, albeit a very persistent one.” ~ Albert Einstein

The bad news: Reality is incoherent. Doesn’t give a fuck as to what is true or what you happen to feel about that.

Either way, misery monkeys are definitely self-deluded and therefor also self-extinguishing.
