JANUARY 6, 2021 – SEDITION & INSURRECTION

What we – what the world saw today unfolding at the US Capitol (and elsewhere around the country) was the direct result of connedspiracy, rabid reactionary right-wing ‘exceptionalism’ and inflammatory rhetoric from the President of the United States, Donald J. Trump who will forever be held responsible for today’s disaster.

It probably hasn’t dawned on these traitors yet that they have now all tossed their lives away and will likely be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Video evidence has been gathered to reveal their identities, travel itineraries and home addresses. All I can say to these ignorant fools – goodbye, good riddance. What you did was illegal, morally reprehensible and totally unacceptable.

To reiterate for the stupid fucking fools that still don’t get it – acts of sedition and insurrection are NOT supported by the Constitution of the United States. Just because YOU don’t like the lawful outcome of the 2020 Election does NOT give you the right to engage in violent protests, or armed protests or attempt a coup upon this Republic. Those of you that think the election was stolen have YET to provide ANY credible evidence to support this ridiculous claim. 60 out of 61 court cases now have found “no evidence”, along with countless specious allegations, fabricated claims, hearsay and what has been determined as “useless affidavits” comprised of conjecture.

Kicking off up to two hours of debate on the Senate floor after some GOP lawmakers objected to the electoral vote count in Arizona, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell made an extraordinary speech rebuking his fellow Republicans for their actions.

“We’re debating a step that has never been taken in American history – whether Congress should overrule the voters and overturn a presidential election.”

Speaking directly to his colleagues, he reminded them he supported Trump’s right to legal challenges, “But over and over, the courts rejected these claims including all-star judges whom the president himself has nominated.”

“We cannot simply declare ourselves a national board of elections on steroids. The voters, the courts, and the states have all spoken,” he said. “If we overrule them, it would damage our republic forever.”

“This election is not unusually close,” he added.

McConnell went on to say overturning the results would send the country on a “poisonous path” and into an “endless spiral of partisan vengeance” before calling on elected leaders to summon “patriotic courage” in both victory and in defeat.

“We must not imitate and escalate what we repudiate,” he said.

“I will not pretend such a vote would be a harmless protest gesture while relying on others to do the right thing. I will vote to respect the people’s decision and defend our system of government as we know it,” McConnell said in closing.

Conjecture is NOT evidence. Look up the word. Understand what it means. The courts are well-equipped to understand what real evidence actually is, and so far, nothing has been provided. Allegations and “hundreds of pages of documents” is NOT evidence – it’s HEARSAY unless this contains FACTUAL PROOF which to date, has NOT been found.

So the assault upon the US Capital and other government buildings today was 100% unjustified and uncalled for. You don’t get to undermine our elections. It was an act of sedition and insurrection to the United States Constitution. You are not “patriots”, you’re selfish fools engaging in sedition and Americans DO NOT SUPPORT YOU.

You listened to a serial liar who has created a cult-following to do his bidding in a desperate attempt to remain in office by ANY MEANS POSSIBLE. Which I have long warned about – and now you have committed insurrection. Your lives will soon be over and you will be spending time behind bars for this action. Which is exactly where many of you now belong. You cannot be trusted to act with reason, with lawfulness and with patience and have resorted to violence, armed insurrection and threats.

What did you think was going to happen? For your fifteen-second of “fame” before the television cameras and all the world to see, you have utterly ruined your lives. It’s just a matter of time now before you are all rounded up and jailed, awaiting prosecution and sentencing.

You’re all a bunch of dumbasses to be honest. You never stood a chance. You supported the wrong guy and the wrong agenda at the wrong time. You’re worst then “sore losers”, you’re traitors. The rest of the world sees you as utter fools, stupid beyond words and with good reason. You don’t understand the law, you don’t understand the Constitution, you don’t understand how elections work, you didn’t accept the re-counts and the countless investigations by THOUSANDS of people and officials and examinations of the actual vote, and you fell for EVERY LIE SPEWED BY TRUMP.

Trump attacks Pence as protesters storm the Capitol

As protesters of the Electoral College count and supporters of the president breached the Capitol building, Trump did not call for calm but attacked Vice President Mike Pence on Twitter.

“Mike Pence didn’t have the courage to do what should have been done to protect our Country and our Constitution, giving States a chance to certify a corrected set of facts, not the fraudulent or inaccurate ones which they were asked to previously certify. USA demands the truth!” Trump tweeted.

THAT clown needs to removed from office ASAP via the 25th Amendment before he can destroy this country any further. Why you wanted to follow such a corrupt and evil man who was willing to sacrifice HIS OWN COUNTRY for his own personal gain (get-out-of-jail card for four more years) is still a mystery to the rest of us. Either you have utterly lost your minds as he has, or you really cannot grasp the meaning of “truth”. But this is all on you.

I think you’ve all been brainwashed and along with all of the ridiculous claims being foisted on social media and on rabid news networks, you lost your sense of right and wrong. But that is still no excuse whatsoever for what transpired today – you will be held responsible and accountable for your actions, as will Trump. You definitely picked the wrong horse at the wrong time in the wrong race and now you’re going to have to pay for what you’ve done.

It is essential for the stability of this Republic and our form of government, and for the future security, tranquility and prosperity of the Nation to hold all of you who engaged in sedition and insurrection to account, including the sons of Donald J. Trump. The massive amount of shame, embarrassment and destruction of our political standing as a free nation can only be eventually restored by prosecuting the traitors in our midst.

We’ll start with you – and then the Senate and Congress members who have betrayed America.

U.S. trade group asks VP Pence to ‘seriously consider’ invoking 25th Amendment to remove Trump

“Armed violent protestors who support the baseless claim by outgoing President Trump that he somehow won an election that he overwhelmingly lost have stormed the U.S. Capitol today, attacking police officers and first responders, because Trump refused to accept defeat in a free and fair election. Throughout this whole disgusting episode, Trump has been cheered on by members of his own party, adding fuel to the distrust that has enflamed violent anger. This is not law and order. This is chaos. It is mob rule. It is dangerous. This is sedition and should be treated as such. The outgoing president incited violence in an attempt to retain power, and any elected leader defending him is violating their oath to the Constitution and rejecting democracy in favor of anarchy. Anyone indulging conspiracy theories to raise campaign dollars is complicit. Vice President Pence, who was evacuated from the Capitol, should seriously consider working with the Cabinet to invoke the 25th Amendment to preserve democracy.

This is not the vision of America that manufacturers believe in and work so hard to defend. Across America today, millions of manufacturing workers are helping our nation fight the deadly pandemic that has already taken hundreds of thousands of lives. We are trying to rebuild an economy and save and rebuild lives. But none of that will matter if our leaders refuse to fend off this attack on America and our democracy — because our very system of government, which underpins our very way of life, will crumble.”

A Single Day Shakes Two Presidencies, Two Parties and One Nation to the Core

At the Capitol, Mr. Trump’s own vice president, Mike Pence, was presiding over the task of counting the nation’s electoral votes. Mr. Pence had just proclaimed that he would defy the president’s wishes that he seek somehow to unilaterally overturn the results of the presidential election. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, in his own break with the president he had steadfastly defended, said that none of the alleged election irregularities, even if they took place, were nearly large enough to change the outcome. He declined to support any effort to overturn the results.

And then the mob arrived. Mr. Pence had to be whisked away in protective custody to protect him from supporters of his own boss. The task of counting electoral votes—a process the nation’s leaders have previously carried out in good times and in bad, during war and peace—was suspended as the nation’s elected leaders went into lockdown.

Kudos for another righteous diatribe that should be read by all Americans upset and worried about this attack on our democracy. I can only add that there seems to be a peculiar reluctance in the outraged opinion pieces and political quotes to acknowledge the elephant in the room: Trump is either mentally ill and/or checked out of reality — which means we all should be terrified that he controls the nukes for another two weeks.

In this essay exploring the possibility of another Middle Eastern war with Iran, here’s a quote to ponder:

“On January 4, Iran declared that it will be restarting uranium enrichment toward a 20% target. Iran currently enriches its uranium stockpile up to around 4.5%, a violation of the 3.67% cap it agreed to in the July 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, commonly known as the nuclear deal. Iran’s estimated breakout time is now less than four months. Trump, after his economic pressure on Iran did not work, might assume the military option is better.”

And what better way for an unhinged megalomaniac to “show everybody” than to take that option? God, I get shivers just thinking of the damage he could still do, that would make even the shocking disaster that was narrowly averted today pale in comparison.

Superb editorial about our democracy’s “Day of Infamy” yesterday:

“The U.S. government is relatively coup-proof because, like the president who heads its executive branch, it is bloated and sluggish, and due to its sheer inertia resistant to being jostled far out of position. That does not stop some from occasionally trying—and yesterday a crowd of deranged seditionists, encouraged by specific Republican officials, took a hard run at the government and tried to knock it down. It did not fall, and today the sun rose. Let’s see what we’ve learned.

    (1) The president is still a coward. Donald Trump’s attempt on Saturday to hector Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger into committing election fraud, released by The Washington Post, revealed that he believed every conspiracy theory about the election and—like some kind of idiot savant—had mastered even small details without developing any higher mental function. He really believes that dark forces have stolen his victory, and when he incites his followers to behave accordingly, he asks them to supply courage where his own is lacking. This limitation was always going to stop him from waging a civil war. A man who has spent his life avoiding situations that would demand physical courage, and despising those who have it, will be at his most cowardly in a moment like this.”
