Giant new 50-metre deep ‘crater’ opens up in Arctic tundra

Another giant hole in the bowels of the Earth has opened up in the Arctic (northern Siberia). Saw this a few days ago, it’s massive.

The cause is melting permafrost and methane building up, which forcefully ‘explodes’ (without flames, so far, ejecting tons of material from the hole. Some of the debris travels hundreds of yards, which is pretty huge considering how much pressure this must entail.

Check out the link – there are pictures and map locations of other giant holes getting ready to open up.
