Freedom Off – Data Mining On

I recently received a suggesting that I reopen the comments on this blog. While this may seem like a good idea, I’m going to leave comments closed. Primarily because it will not be safe for you, the reader.

While posting / commenting on any blog, forum or website is your choice (where allowed), it is a very unsafe practice these days. Electronic information profiles are now being developed on every Internet user. Facebook, Twitter, Yahoo, Google, Gmail, Hotmail, MSN, virtually all of them — are all being sifted, sorted and aggregated together to identify everyone (and every one you know). What you think, what you buy, what you own, your political views, religious affiliations, psychological profiles and much, much more.

Are you harboring terrorist tendencies, as revealed by your rants online? Or do you show a social connection, a “friends” list with someone else that does? Did you reveal why you really didn’t go to work that day? That tiny fender damage you told to your brother, did you know your insurance company is watching out for exactly this sort of thing? Didn’t get that job? Maybe it’s because of something you posted online, unbeknownst to you, was shared with your prospective employer.

Many of these comments that we make online may seem benign and harmless, but that is not how they are being analyzed. They are being assessed for hidden tendencies via words to do harm, to express anger, or resentment or non-cooperation / non-compliance. They’re your online deposition, and will be used against you, you just didn’t know it.

Moreover, they are being cataloged to identify those individuals, groups and networks that are nefarious, malicious, threatening, even violent. Yet these are only words, being written by millions daily through keyboards. And nobody is watching the watchers who are watching you, or making sure that they are not taking things out of context. Or watching to ensure that your words are not being used in ways which do not harm you, the author. You have no idea whatsoever who is doing this or really even why, or who they are sharing this data mining information with.

For many months I have been silently noting the very scary developments of online tracking activity. Every American is now a potential suspect and a potential threat. Doesn’t matter who or what you are, you are being watched. Each word you say is being cataloged for future reference and can be instantly “recovered”. Real-time assessments are also occurring, seeking to identify those individuals, friends and networks that may somehow, allegedly threaten the well-being of anyone.

The bogus “terror” card is the fall-back ploy foisted upon a still-gullible public. Their suspicious of everyone, including your grandmother and your three-year old child (another here).

There are nearly one million examples now of bogus “terrorists” claims or charges being directed against individuals, based upon nothing more then the fear-mongering phobias by an hyperactive government that is suspicious of everything (a clear sign of fascism). It is a situation that is wildly out of control, as virtually none of it needed, necessary or even desired for the common good of the people. The common good is not the reason why this is occurring.

Online posting, even writing a blog article, is fraught with danger. Anything you say can and will be used against you, even by your own intended audience. Anyone that writes anything and makes this public (or even semi-private, such as a so-called private “chat” or only for an authorized friends list) is risking anything said as being misconstrued. Don’t think for a moment that these private chat rooms are actually private either, they aren’t. The Department of Homeland Security, the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), and the National Security Agency (NSA) and many more similar entities can access this information whenever they want. The conversations you are having online, are all being stored without your consent or knowledge.

Google, Yahoo, MSN and even Swiss banks have all been easily pressured into giving up their data by an increasingly belligerent U.S. government. We’ve all heard the saying, “If you’ve got nothing to hide, you’ve got nothing to fear”, which is undeniably false and an illogical straw argument. It is the government that is creating fear and resentment. And it is the government which is invading the private lives of hundreds of millions of Americans. The duplicity of secretive and spying government notwithstanding, your rights to privacy is the same thing as being “secure in your person” and “papers” (4th Amendment).

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

The unreasonable search of chat rooms, forums, blogs, comments and online data is without warrant, and without probably cause continues unabated. Technically, it is illegal, but this has not stopped this activity, which is in fact increasing rather significantly.

Since writing this post years ago – the data on government spying has becoming extremely significant. The facts are now “in” – they are in fact spying on EVERYTHING, EVERYWHERE, WORLDWIDE. This is no longer of any doubt whatsoever as the revelations by Wikileaks and Snowden and many other whistleblowers have now revealed.

Updated: Homeland Security Monitoring Social Networks

We do not live in a country where legality rules anymore, so I will not even bother to engage this line of thinking. Rather, we living in a country that is quite willing to do anything it damned well pleases (war, torture, gulags, wiretapping and so much more) without any lawful authorization. Therefore, you the individual, if you are not aware of this duplicity, need to wise up and be smart about any communications you make (virtually anywhere). You are not protected by the 4th Amendment any more. You are only protected by what you don’t say or do.  And even this is not much protection at all, since fabrication of evidence to “prove” guilt or justify actions (usually over your dead body) is also very common, or as case histories show, the deliberate distortion and manipulation of something you might have said years ago.

Be smart and basically, shut up. Ignorant and oft-time belligerent people claim that they have “nothing to fear” and will mouth off some really stupid things. These are the actions of children, who think that the bully in the schoolyard won’t hear them or react to their rants. You might get away with this for a time, but not indefinitely, and then you will regret all the days you stayed stupid. The bully from yesteryear is still there, except now he’s got sound-wave weapons, assault rifles, drones, military hardware and gulags around the world, and the desire to use them all.

There are now thousands of dead Americans, virtually assassinated by their own government, who thought that they could stay safe and stay loud, saying whatever they wanted online, or through newspapers or radio. These actions did not go unnoticed, and they were well-remembered when direct actions against those individuals came due.

Our notions of “free speech” (1st Amendment) are based upon the perception that we can say whatever we want, without fear of retribution. However, this is simply untrue (i.e., witness the Occupy Wall Street protests and every “free speech zone”).

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

This Amendment says nothing at all about beating your head in with a club if you do exercise your supposed freedom of speech. Or having your door kicked down, your computer and papers stolen and being held on charges for inciting “hatred” or “terrorist activities” for something you are alleged to have said. We assume that this means we can say what we want, but that is not the case. Say what you want, even if there is no “law” against it, but risk the club by so doing. You still got your chance to exercise the freedom of speech while you got your head beat in.

American freedoms are declining rapidly. There are thousands of articles depicting this precipitous decline, here are but a recent few:

How The CIA Uses Social Media To Track How People Feel

In a nondescript building in Virginia, analysts are tracking millions of tweets, blog posts, and Facebook updates from around the world.

I laugh when I read some inane comment about “American Freedoms” posted online. America is one of the most controlled countries and people in the entire world. Our illusions about our freedoms is directly connected to the remote-control sponge implanted behind your eyeballs. The media changes the channel at will and we never even notice the subliminal message.

We are already long-past the time when we can safely post what we really think, and deep down inside, even the most obtuse jerk knows it too. Which is why you will not read about what needs to be done, anywhere. We can’t even say it.

And it wouldn’t do any good anyway, even if we could post it. That’s the scary, ugly truth. The brainwashing is now so utterly complete and pervasive in the minds of millions and millions now, that they’d simply hate you for speaking the obvious. Look around! Anyone that actually has the nerve to fight back is swiftly demonized by the brainwashed masses. You don’t have the support of your fellow man, you have his hatred.

We think we’re fighting an insidious evil that has taken over our government and our corporations (true), but we tend to forget that this evil has now consumed most Americans too. Anyone who does not behave, act, think or believe like the rest is considered dangerous, even a domestic terrorist, by their fellow man.

We are only the fellow inhabitants in a country of supposedly “civilized” individuals, who will gladly and willingly support endless wars of terror, rivers of blood, torture, bombing, assassinations, drones, the killing of men, woman and children, the blind designation of “enemy combatants” without proof or charge, indefinite detentions, political corruption, Wall Street manipulation and so much more, and who will also hate you if you dare rock the boat. These adjectives describe not only “foreign enemies” and those declared by our government, they describe Americans. It is absolutely no wonder at all that they will hate you for your freedom of thought or expression. Dissent? Then you must be a trouble-maker.  Protest? Domestic terrorist.  If you see through the lies and the deception and infinite manipulation of the minds all around you, you are hated by the majority of your countrymen.

Their ignorant of course, often hiding behind their illusions of patriotism and a blood-soaked flag. They’ve fallen for the smoke-and-mirrors deception that distorts the truth into palatable sound-bytes and justifiable “actions”. The gleaming white teeth and coiffed hair displayed on the television hides the death-skull grimace and empty sockets of a soulless capitalism and the culture of death. Prostitution is not limited to the trade of money for sex, but to the whoring of oneself (principles, belief, morals, actions) for money. In this country, this practice hides under the cloaks of democracy and capitalism. We’re entirely justified, or so we think, no matter how many dead there may be, if we’re making money.

America is a “goner” in my opinion. A total loss as a bastion of freedom or liberty. I have believed this for years now because the trends towards fascism and totalitarianism are very clear. Nothing has reversed this course. It is actually too late to do that now. Historically speaking, the rise and fall of nations is a cyclic event, and we’re overdue:

A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship. The average age of the world’s greatest civilizations has been 200 years.

Great nations rise and fall. The people go from bondage to spiritual truth, to great courage, from courage to liberty, from liberty to abundance, from abundance to selfishness, from selfishness to complacency, from complacency to apathy, from apathy to dependence, from dependence back again to bondage. (history here)

Is this written in stone? Certainly not.  I applaud every effort to restore our freedom. But I hold no illusions about gaining any of it back in my lifetime. The trend is quite clear — we are going in exactly the opposite direction, full-tilt.  We’re definitely in that apathy-dependence-bondage stage. I’ve no optimism that this will change soon either.

You need to be smart and disempower those that are using things like the Internet to track you. This has failed – so shut up and be smart. Or you can ignore this (still free) advice altogether and blab away.

In any case, comments are still going to be left off. You may not like it, but it’s actually for your own good.
