Climate of Concern – Committing The Earth To A Living Hell

This is the 1991 Shell tape that has been hidden from the public revealing the devastating impacts of climate change and fossil fuels.

Shell spent tens of millions of dollars lobbying against serious climate policy and funding disinformation campaigns of climate science ($22 million annually).

Yet they knew (as did Exxon as the historical record clearly shows).

The 28-minute film was uncovered by Dutch journalist Jelmer Mommers of The Correspondent, along with a raft of internal documents and reports by the company’s scientists that show just how thoroughly and precisely Shell understood the the damage caused by its product. Burning fossil fuels, the film warned, was causing climate change “at a rate faster than at any time since the end of the ice age. Change too fast, perhaps, for life to adapt without severe dislocation.” The Secret VHS Tape That Could Have Stopped Climate Change

It’s plainly obvious when you grasp the fundamentals of this gigantic coverup by Big Oil that they chose greed over human survival. And now the entire world, the whole of humanity, and the entire future of the human race, and every other living creature is having to pay the price for their greed.

And now, the Trump Administration intends to exploit every possible fossil fuel resource. We’re simply too stupid as a species to finally put a stop to this ecocide.

Shell has a well-documented history of manipulation, lies and exploitation, going right back to not long after its establishment in the late 1800s, much the same as Rockefeller’s Standard Oil, the ancestor of Exxon.

The parallels between the behaviour of oil companies and tobacco companies has been highlighted on numerous occasions. Tobacco companies knew their product was deadly and paid mind-control experts huge sums to manipulate the general populace into believing tobacco was relatively harmless, and poured billions of dollars over many decades into ensuring politicians moved as slowly as possible on the matter of labelling and restricting smoking.

It’s all symptomatic of an economic and cultural system that was hijacked by corporations and banks (and lawyers) a century or so ago, with very much increased control of society by corporations from the Second World War on, and now serving them instead of serving the needs of the general populace

‘Chevron warns it could face climate change lawsuits with future oil drilling potentially ‘economically infeasible’
Activist lawyers put UK companies on notice that legal action could be ‘on the cards’ as environmentalists say oil industry’s ‘entire business model is predicated on extremely dangerous levels of climate change’

Hmmm. I’ll believe it when I see it. Most likely, legislation would be passed in each country exempting fossil fuel companies from litigation like this. Our politicians are totally corrupt and the zombie masses would support it.

The turnaround would have to be absolutely massive, since at the moment governments do everything they can to protect and promote the short-term interests of the fossil fuel sector, enshrining the petroleum-based economy and celebrating everything that is totally wrong with modern living -which governments have to do because they are agents of banks and corporations.

The Chevron announcement could be a preemptive move which someone somewhere has decided would be useful further down the track, when the financial or EROEI aspects cause difficulties and the company gets liquidated…….’we have decided to liquidate the company to protect the environment'(having already wrecked it).

In the meantime business as usual and more destruction. After all, it is a loot-and-pollute economic system, or more precisely a loot-and-pollute-and-exploit system.
