Worth reading if anybody cares.
From Paris – a perspective from some scientists:
It’s painfully clear that global leaders remains truly clueless and disconnected from what is really unfolding on the ground – despite the escalating disasters being reported around the world. Lip service and empty promises still rule the day. It’s rather discouraging – but I’m a pessimist and did not expect anything else. Human nature being what it is, we’re poorly suited to respond to something that is threatening our survival “down the road”.
Note all the time frames being discussed when it comes to climate discussion – always “years down the road” with no cognizant recognition of disasters already unfolding. This disconnect that people are dying and suffering right now is bizarre.
Personally, I think that we’re going to see some very rapid climate change events occur because we’ve tipped past multiple trigger-events. As this unfolds, the rhetoric and shouting on both sides of the fence is going to increase. The world will be thrown into a panic. And I’m not looking forward to that.
It’s a planetary emergency but it’s still unrecognized. And frankly, decades too late.
