Sea level rise is happening faster then expected – so don’t pay any attention to the idiot denier websites (and their commentary). I’ve seen some of the pure garbage that they churn out. It’s enough to make a thinking person go mad.

Now they’re saying it’s 8 feet (but it will be more) by 2100:

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) just reported that the sea level is rising faster than expected in the northeastern United States and other specific regions. As climate change worsens, the global sea level could rise by eight feet before the year 2100.

Eventually, they’ll accommodate all the known data on sea level rise. But it will be more then 8 feet. And more then 9. Because it’s all melting a lot faster then these reports are claiming.

Perhaps 8 metres, rather than 8 feet, by the end of the century.

With so many interacting factors it’s impossible to predict, other than that everything that matters will be made worse. And it’s not going to matter anyway, since industrial civilization cannot persist more than another decade or so.

Almost nobody (here) believes either of these points. Sea level won’t be a problem and civilization will continue into the indefinite future.

Call it “hidden hopium” – America has this in large bunches.

I’m seeing almost no evidence that anybody is taking any of these issues even half-seriously. Almost nobody is preparing in any way; they’re not picking up essential skills or supplies; they’re not building any networks or communication infrastructure; they’re not actively involved in relocating themselves, etc.

The preparedness market has utterly collapsed. There is a current article today by Brandon Smith (who I consider a f’n idiot) which denies this, but he’s totally lying (again). Even the gun industry in this country is now imploding. The topic of climate change remains taboo with the lying connedservatives pretending it will all just go away.

Look – I think it is pointless to push these facts / truths anymore. On a personal level, I do not want to do this anymore. It’s all backfiring for me. The closer to reality this blog tries to get, the worse things have been. There is no reason for me to continue.

The reason for continuing is that human beings need to express themselves. You have a truth, you need to speak it. There are a handful of others who are listening, and also speaking (or replying, as the case may be).

World hasn’t changed? If they didn’t heed Al Bartlett, Paul Ehrlich, Garrett Hardin, Nicholas Georgescu-Roegen and so many others, well, what could you have expected?

Speaking the truth is a good in and of itself, in the old Aristotelian sense of the word. Virtue, perfection of character, honor… if you believe all that. I do, at any rate.

          I totally agree.

The essence of the predicament was outlined in the early 1970s -‘limits to growth’ and all that- but the mendacious arseholes that were in control at the time sabotaged the ‘limits to growth’ agenda in favour of ‘party on until we can’t party on any longer’; well, we’re damned close to the point of not being able to party on any longer, but not actually at that point just yet. I believe we have another 3 to 5 years of the utter madness before it all starts to seriously unravel.

Pity the children alive today, who have been thoroughly betrayed by politicians and corporate leaders over many decades, and will pay the price for all the consumeristic insanity that has prevailed for so long.
