Mother Jones has a article on our new weather extremes: Get Used To New Weather Extremes

Most sites and sources are still playing catch-up to what I’ve been saying for several years. The climate trends can only go in one direction.  The new “normals” will now and forever be “extremes”.  You just can’t ignore all the heat energy being built up, it’s got to go somewhere.

The Norway tragedy is disturbing.  This is another extreme of the social variety.  The message the executioner hoped to convey will be drowned out in the bloodshed he caused.  His extremism will eventually be realized also as a new “normal”. The direction of society collapsing is just as clear as is the direction of the climate collapsing.

Our common-man’s lexicon will eventually embrace these new realities as the new normals. The truth is that we already have, as we continue to define our actions for war, nation-building and the collapse of societies as normal events we had all better all get used to.

Nobody is really admitting yet to what this means. Death marches on our horizons, coming closer everyday. Much of the world continues to hope for a return to the old normal, where acceptable levels of war, starvation, violence, injustice and intolerance are  allowed.  What we had long become used to, a comfort zone that defined us as to who we really are.

But things are changing, again as the world turns more and more against itself, this time with forces much bigger then just humanity going insane and self-destructing.

I recommend everyone read War Is A Force That Give Us Meaning, by Chris Hedges.

This book reveals the false ideology that we are so quick to embrace, whether American, Serbian, Muslim, and then conveniently “forget” when it suits us.  But not before we have left a trail of tragedy and bloodshed behind.

Hedges is becoming one of my favorite authors. I’ve just finished his book “American Fascists: The Christian Right and the War On America”.  Anyone interested in knowing what may lay ahead for American politics and the country should also read this work.

The point I’m trying to make here is that these new extremes are being widely embraced by millions of people, who are repeating the same mistakes of the past. They are absolutely convinced that they are offering the world something new and essential.  But they are quite wrong.

The other point I have long tried to make is that humans the world over are being pushed into extremes. The consequences which will be and are quite catastrophic. There will be no bystanders, no innocents, no exemptions either. Everyone worldwide is going to participate in these new extremes whether we like it or not.

Most Americans are going to choose to bury their collective heads in the sands (again) and go on pretending that this isn’t happening.  There is little that can be done about that except keep preaching reality.

We are not going to get any leadership out of Washington or even the majority of our institutions to help us through this time period (especially the media).  If anything, they will warp the stage to their own effect and self-serving interests.  Therefore, you alone are going to be entirely responsible for achieving a balance of truth and understanding.

We’re going to live through an era of tragedies.  Or try to.  It is much too soon to tell what will remain “afterwards”.  It will definitely NOT be what we have today or even resemble what we had before.  Human inertia is just as unstoppable as is climate, these are not easily stopped or redirected because we suddenly and magically change overnight somehow.

For humans, we burn ourselves out, purging our hatreds, ideologies and mythical beliefs upon the altars of blood, singly or within entire groups or nations.

Unfortunately, that is how it has always turned out. It’s as if we can never learn, and quite frankly, perhaps we can’t.

Found over on Climate Progress:

500 Days of Summer
Climate Change Denial

Be sure to read: It’s Hotter Than It Used to Be; It’s Not as Hot as It’s Going to Be

And the winner is …….. the United States, in LAST PLACE on Countries Actions and Commitments on Climate Change:

Heat, Worsening Drought Kill Thousands of Cattle – Mounting Human Toll Yet to Be Revealed

It will take more F5 tornadoes, more collapsing fisheries, more blistering ‘heat waves’, more gigantic fires, more devastating droughts, more huge sandstorms, and more massive floods for the idiots that run this country to finally admit that catastrophic climate change is here to stay.

And THEN we get to deal with the corrupt corporate stranglehold on our government, even after we FINALLY get a few in Congress and the Senate to wake the hell up.

But not before thousands more will die in the United States as a DIRECT result of climate change.

It is rather unbelievable at how reticent American policy makers are to admit what is now utterly obvious to even the most obtuse observer.

Americans trail the ENTIRE WORLD in admitting to reality is also unbelievable, and in no small part due to the insane levels of brainwashing and media control taking place here.

We’re in very, very serious trouble now, and not just because we are the worst nation in the world to wake the hell up, but because we are now experiencing devastating effects as a DIRECT result of our entrenched denials.

We will soon see entire cities engulfed in flames, unable to combat the fires that surround them in the countryside.

We’ll see food prices jump up 10,000% as entire crops fail for lack of water (or too much water).

We’ll see millions more businesses go under as American suffer more and more due to climate change effects.

We’ll see more towns and villages wiped off the map due to floods. We’ll see catastrophic ice storms blanket entire regions, bringing the entire region to an icy, frozen standstill. And we’ll see more deniers scream loudly that none of this is our fault.

We’ve reached the point where it is a criminal act against humanity and all future generations to keep refuting the science and the facts, or to stall any meaningful action on climate change.

The lag time of what we experience and when its human-cause took place is as much as DECADES. This means that we ain’t seen nothing yet, it is going to get SIGNIFICANTLY WORSE then it already is.

Science is now keenly aware the minute changes have long-term and huge effects on what we can experience with climate. This is a critical and essential message that needs to be pounded home into every numbskull idiot our there.

I predict that these days will soon be the “good old days” when we only experienced 116 degrees heat index. Scientific predictions indicate we will see 130 and 140 heat index days within 10 years.

Know that this means most life forms, plant, animal, human, marine will then be dead.

And we’re still ‘debating’ this topic as if we have any time left at all.

Because of this fact, and our last-place position on making any effort to change, and our first-place finish in the world on contributing to climate change, the United States is already doomed in ways which will boggle the mind of even the most pessimistic doomer.

World food outlook continues to drop precipitously:

We’ve got to do something or we’re going to have no food at any price at times in the next few years, Rogers said in a Bloomberg Television interview with Rishaad Salamat in Singapore. I still own agriculture. If I found something to buy, I would buy it.

Global stockpiles of corn, the most-consumed grain, are forecast to drop to 47 days of use, the fewest since 1974, data from the U.S. Department of Agriculture show. Inventories are declining as demand continues to outstrip production that’s forecast to rise to a fifth consecutive year of record.

The Standard & Poor’s GSCI Agriculture Index fell 9.6 percent this quarter, the first loss since the first three months of 2010. While corn has lost 4.7 percent this quarter, the grain is still 92 percent costlier than it was a year ago, making it the best performer in the index. Corn traded at $6.685 a bushel in Chicago.

Low Inventories

Inventories of wheat, used in making pasta, noodles, bread and feed for hogs and poultry, will drop to a three-year low of 184.26 million metric tons before next year’s Northern Hemisphere harvest, as output misses demand for a second year, the USDA said.
