New Zealand Bans Coal and Gas Power Plants

This is an interesting development.  If I read this correctly, it’s a 10 year ban.  This might not really mean that much, if it just applies to new construction.

They are however, planning to produce a whopping 90% of their power from renewable resources by 2025.  Not bad, but bear in mind, they’re only talking about 4 million people.  And 2025 is going to be far too late (sorry, it just “is”).

Anyway, read it for ‘yerself.

    Hi SA,

Sorry to hear how little feedback and support you are receiving for your blog. I agree it is time to look after yourself and your family. If it was up to me I’d say move to NZ. Choose the South Island if you do - only 1,000,000 people. The most clued up community seems to be Hampden (search Hampden peak oil). The wife and I are thinking of moving there soon. Has a very ‘aware’ community. Really, NZ is not a do or die situation like the USA. Think about it, man!
