Nationalizing Supermarkets and Hoarding of Goods
209 ViewsThis ties in perfectly with the 2010 - A Glimpse At the Future story posted yesterday, except it’s Venezuela that is imposing nationalization of goods and price controls. Will this effort follow the disastrous examples of Yugoslavia? With their reserves of petroleum, I doubt it. But it does demonstrate how close the world really is to nationalization of assets in the face of energy declines.
Venezuela (AP) — President Hugo Chavez threatened Wednesday to nationalize any privately owned supermarkets and food storage facilities caught hoarding inventories or violating price controls imposed on basic goods.
Accusing private companies of hoarding beef and other foods, Chavez warned supermarket owners and distributors that he would nationalize their facilities as soon as they gave him “an excuse.”
“If they remain committed to violating the interests of the people, the constitution, the laws, I’m going to take the food storage units, corner stores, supermarkets and nationalize them,” Chavez said during a televised broadcast. “So prepare yourselves!”
Can it happen here? It WILL happen here sooner then you think. As food supplies are threatened by declining sources of energy (don’t forget the fertilizers, pesticides and insecticide, all manufactured from petroleum), nationalization of these “strategic assets” will become absolutely essential.
Another “point” about the 2010 - A Glimpse At the Future “story” was the formation of the North American Union. I hope everyone realizes this is already underway. A desperate attempt to salvage national security, natural resources within the existing “natural” borders, human capital and resource control. What does Canada have that we want? Tar sands and abundant, underutilized raw resources. Mexico has “dirty” petroleum and human capital. The United States seeks to co-opt these resources for it’s own use. Just in case you’re having a hard time figuring out what this will eventually mean, it’s called indentured servitude.
And the “new new Dollar” in the story? Already underway, it’s called the Amero (for now). And did you catch the implementation date? “The stated target for full implementation of the North American Union is 2010.” Hard to say if they’ll make that deadline, but interesting nonetheless.
The truly, truly scary thing is just how close to present day reality this story is.

The funny thing is that it’s going both ways. While the federal government is talking about a North American Union, there are a few states that are discussing secession. Vermont and California are the ones I can think of off hand.
So which way do you think it will go?

That’s easy. Follow the money. The States do anything the Federals want because of money.
The NAU is going to receive a huge amount of rejection, but since when did this stop the Federalists? My guess is they’ll do it anyway, they just won’t do it openly.
