Blog Shutdown

Filed under: General — admin @ 1:48 pm

This blog is going into hibernation for a while, perhaps permanently. I don’t know if I’ll be restarting it at some point again or not.

There are several reasons for this. Some of my work is not receiving any credit or recognition on other sites that are using the information presented. This is just rude. Secondly, there’s really only been a limited amount of interest, judging by the feedback received. Thirdly, what needs to be said has already been said, dozens of times over. And finally, donations are totally non-existent. I couldn’t buy a loaf of bread from the support I’ve received.

I’ve got a few thousand hours into this, I’m sure. It’s seriously impacted my other life, which has been trying to stay alive. Adding it all up, I’m now certain I’m wasting my time and I’m not one to do that forever.  So be it.  Good luck to everyone.

Terrorist and Tyranny Go Hand In Hand

Filed under: General, Politics, Terrorism, Tyranny, Collapse — admin @ 9:40 pm

It’s becoming rather repetitive to keep posting this stuff, but at the risk of boring anyone, here it is again. This is exactly what I’ve been claiming - “what terrorists?” for the past two years:

WASHINGTON - Federal prosecutors counted immigration violations, marriage fraud and drug trafficking among anti-terror cases in the four years after 9/11 even though no evidence linked them to terror activity, a Justice Department audit said Tuesday.

Overall, nearly all of the terrorism-related statistics on investigations, referrals and cases examined by department Inspector General Glenn A. Fine were either diminished or inflated. Only two of 26 sets of department data reported between 2001 and 2005 were accurate, the audit found.

What would you do if Bush declared martial law? The groundwork has been laid. The public dissent continues to increase (and why not? considering that our Congress is absolutely useless in reigning in the monster). Far fetched? Don’t laugh last, US Court confirms: Bush Has Eliminated Habeas Corpus.

Fear mongering? Like this? I couldn’t make this stuff up if I tried. Something is in the works. Perhaps it’s these terrorists. You be the judge. I already know what it is.

Bangledesh - Climate Change Impacts Already Evident

Filed under: General, Environment, Collapse — admin @ 12:41 pm

“I invite anyone who remains cynical about the impact of climate change on the planet to visit Bangladesh. We have more floods. Our droughts have become more intense. The biggest mangrove forests in the world - the Sundarbans - are dying. We are losing precious biodiversity. You can see the effects of global warming with your own eyes.

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change’s report released last month made clear the impact climate change could have on the world. But the terrible fact is that, even if all countries signed up to protect the environment, climate change will take its toll because the damage has been done.We Are The One Who Will Pay For The Damage

I’ve long made the argument that the effects of climate change are now unstoppable, no matter what we humans try to do. It’s too late, decades of environmental abuses are now revealing themselves all over the world.

I’ve also long made argument that it is FIRST WORLD nations that are causing the problems the most:

Andrew Kerr of the World Wide Fund for Nature pointed out: “The United States is responsible for almost half of the increase in world carbon dioxide in the past decade. That increase is greater than the increase in China, India, Africa and the whole of Latin America.” Dangerous Denial

With 4 per cent of the world’s population, the U.S. created a whopping 35 per cent of the total historic emissions of carbon dioxide. Yet the necessary responses to this massive pollution imbalance are still missing.  Which in reality, when you assess the political wherewithal (and intelligence) of our slave-masters, you’ll soon realize that nothing is going to change this. It’s not politically expedient and Americans have absolutely no intention of reducing their greenhouse gas emmissions to the level of those living in China or Bangledesh.

For this reason alone (there are many, many other reasons), it’s crash prep time, there’s really nothing else we can do.

If you’re not making crash preps right now, you’re going to miss your boat. I cannot emphasize this enough - prepare right now.  The general idea that we can somehow “fix” what is wrong is based upon a mistaken and uproven believe that we have the means to do so (technological, social, financial and time).  We don’t - and probably never will.

Crash preps are now in order as the world braces itself for impact from our folly.  Do it now.

Future Oil Supplies Environmentally Damaging

“All the world’s extra oil supply is likely to come from expensive and environmentally damaging unconventional sources within 15 years, according to a detailed study” Study see harmful hunt for extra oil

That is certainly true, but truth won’t stop the energy barons, or the public from demanding that they continue to destroy the remaining ecosystems so that they can have their “necessary” energy.

There is scant evidence that human kind in the First World is ready or willing to power-down. Such talk is considered extremely negative. But power-down is not only necessary, but absolutely essential. No alternative energy source has been found that will avoid this scenario, despite all the hype and vaporware. Even so, more environmental damage will be undertaken to squeeze out that last drop.

Tire Reef Ecological Disaster

Another man-made attempt to “improve” upon nature (and dispose of those pesky tires) proves to be an ecological disaster.

“We’ve literally dumped millions of tires in our oceans,” said Jack Sobel, a senior Ocean Conservancy scientist. “I believe that people who were behind the artificial tire reef promotions actually were well intentioned and thought they were doing the right thing. In hindsight, we now realize that we made a mistake.”

I don’t understand this kind of thinking (by anyone, experts or not). Artificial reefs, created from toxic wastes, haphazardly dumped into the ocean were supposed to improve things?

The long term practice of using the world’s ocean as a dumping grounds has been disastrous. Sewage sludge, radioactive waste, biological agents, medical waste, toxins, plastics, petroleum, garbage, coal, slag, limestone, iron, steel, concrete, construction aggregate and ship wastes, are among some of the highly toxic human byproducts dumped in the world’s oceans. There are also scuttled ships, satellites and space stations being dumped into the oceans.

Though deep-sea dumping is banned, ocean dumping continues in a myriad of ways. Runoff from coastal cities has created some rather floating large trash heaps twice the size of Texas, previously documented on this blog. The long term affects are of course, already showing with massively declining oceanic ecosystems around the entire globe.  There is not a single body of water on the planet that is not in decline.
The inability to effectively face the human quotient in this cycle of marine / fisheries death is the reason why the world’s oceans are in such serious decline. Over 12,000 beaches are now quarantined in the United States alone due to contaminents from pollution. That should be sending a strong signal that our oceans are in serious peril, but the toxic dumping continues.

“Not only does the waste flow into the ocean but it also encourages algal blooms to clog up the waterways causing meadows of seagrass, kelp beds and entire ecosystems to die. A zone without any life remaining is referred to as a dead zone and can be the size of entire states like in coastal zones of Texas and Louisiana. All major bays and estuaries now have dead zones from pollution run-off. Often, pollutants like mercury, PCBs and pesticides are found in seafood meant for the dinner table and cause birth defects, cancer and neurological problems—especially in infants.” Ocean Dumping Grounds

Industrialized civilization, modern agriculture and animal production is entirely responsible for our polluted oceans, which are quite literally, dying before our very eyes. The continued and collective denial of the human affects on planetary ecosystems, climate change and the world’s oceans will ultimately mean our self-imposed destruction as a species.

The natural systems of the world were once more then adequate to provide for human needs, but not any longer.  Eventually, in the not too distant future, humans will die out because of planetary ecocide.  A slow death of a thousand self-inflicted cuts because of our arrogant refusal to live within the natural limits of the environment.

Marine Ecosystems In Collapse

Filed under: General, Environment — admin @ 3:43 pm

Entire marine ecosystems have been wiped out, devastating populations of sea birds and larger marine mammals.

These “dead zones” occur where there are disturbances to the nutrient-rich ocean currents, which are driven by coastal winds.

Extreme marine suffocations have occurred off the west coast of the US every year for the last five years.

The most intense event, which left the ocean floor littered with the carcasses of crabs, happened in 2006.

Climate models predict increasing uncertainty with wild fluctuations. We should expect more surprises
Dr Jane Lubchenco, OSU “It was unlike anything that we’ve measured along the Oregon coast in the past five decades,” said Dr Francis Chan, of Oregon State University (OSU).

Other coastal countries including Chile, Namibia and South Africa have also been affected. Wind Shift Devastate Ocean Life

Strange how all these reports come offshore (no pun intended). Our government seems to be busy making sure the sheep don’t wake up in time.

This is very serious.

“We were shocked to see a graveyard,” he said. “Frame after frame of carcass, carcass, carcass.”

Crabs, worms and sea stars all perished in the anoxic water. The event was so severe that the researchers fear that marine life cannot return to the area.

Bird Flu Found In Moscow

This can’t be good. Moscow is a major international city.  A bit more here.  “Suburbs quarantined” reminds me of that movie last year about the bird flu. Locked in and nobody or nothing coming out.  That can’t be fun.

Tensions High In Mediteranean Over Oil Field

There are two pages to this article about a “major oil and natural gas field” find in the Mediteranean. Except it’s not major at all. But that’s not stopping the various players from around the world already threatening gun-boat diplomacy. At $20 - $50 million to drill each well, the estimated 6 - 8 billion barrels of oil won’t be cheap.

This sort of makes you wonder what it’s like in other parts of the world as they fight and scrape over what’s left. Shadows of things to come, I’m sure.
