There is so much about modern society that is worthless, deserving a hell of a good flushing. Toilet paper is about the only thing I would choose to keep, flushing all the rest to the sewer system of history. I’d rather start over. Whether by choice or not, it appears that this is going to happen.

I do a lot of reading, everyday if I can. Almost all of the current events kind of crap that I read is symptomatic of the plague that ills mankind. It doesn’t seem like most people understand or even want a cure, all they are interested in is a quick and very temporary fix. It’s like we are destined to destroy ourselves. Which might be a good thing actually.

I also read a lot of non-fiction stuff that interest me. Lately I’ve been reading about ancient man and ancient cultures. It’s pretty obvious to me that our culture is destined for the scrap heap (a good thing). I’m not talking about America, but worldwide. The present course of civilization is clearly headed for self-annihilation. It’s too bad it’s going to take a lot of the good of this world (had) to offer, or what’s left of it.

The other night, unable to sleep, I read chapter 9 of the Final Empire. I found a lot of resonance in what I read and what I had come to understand and know about our culture and civilization. Today, I found this article about the Kogi - http://www.crystalinks.com/kogi.html.

To the uninitiated, much of what the Kogi believe and practice seems far-fetched, but one must consider our frame of reference. The Kogi consider us and our civilization “dead”. I have to agree with them. They are obviously a thriving culture, somehow surviving amongst a ever encroaching world for a thousand years. They clearly have a better understanding then we do of the planet on which we all live, but like peoples everywhere, are now the victims of global genocide. While I am not surprised at all, I am deeply saddened by these facts. The lasting genocide committed by the US government against the indigenous people of America, the native American Indian, continues to this day. A little looking around shows a deliberate pattern of oppression, genocide and environmental destruction to indigineous peoples all over the planet. I wonder how we think we can survive as a race of supposedly intelligent and caring beings if we insist on destroying absolutely everything we simply don’t agree with? It is our self-centered supposed “superiority” that is at fault. It is fascism, most recently exemplified by the Nazis, whom Prescott Bush (yep, George’s grandpa) helped financed.

It’s very clear to me that Nazism is on the march in America, under the guise of Christian extremism, the Patriot Act and the War on Terror. The real terror is what is happening to our world and the planned destruction of the human race. I don’t want a damned thing to do with it. Quite frankly, I’d rather be living with the Kogi or any number of indigenous tribes, turning my back forever upon the so-called “modern world” and all of it’s useless crap and claptrap. The more I read and study about the ancient world and it’s cultures, the more it sounds better and better to me. My comparism is this modern world full of hate, death, destruction, corruption and pollution on every hand. A culture that takes and destroys everything it touches can’t be worth saving - or living in.
