Freight Shipping / Freight Quotes

Freight quotes can now be obtained for orders weighing over 500 lbs minimum weight (minimum freight weight).

Be sure you have read all of this page before requesting a freight quote from us.

Freight shipments requires the following:

a) Someone must be available to meet the truck and sign for the order.  The driver will call ahead and make an appointment for delivery. There will be no delivery unless someone is physically there to sign for the shipment.

b) The truck and trailer can be up to 70 ft long, there must be room for the freight truck to enter and leave. Dead-ends, cul-de-sacs and hard to access addresses may present a problem for the freight driver. If delivery cannot be made, you will still be charged for a failed delivery and even return shipping costs if the shipment has to be returned to us.

c) For residential deliveries, the driver will drop the load using a lift gate, the order will be on wooden pallets and wrapped in plastic.  The driver will only drop the load, he doesn't unwrap the pallet or carry anything inside.  If he does, they charge about $150 for this service. Residential delivery freight comes with a lift gate to drop the load to the ground. The driver is supposed to call 24 hours in advance and make an appointment (but they do not always do this, we do not have any control over this).

d) For commerical deliveries, this must be an established business location with a forklift and/or loading dock (no exceptions). The freight truck for commercial delivery destinations does not have a lift gate. Brick and mortar locations with regular open hours (Mon - Friday) are the most common commercial locations. Commercial freight drivers do not call for appointments and will simply show up, expecting the business to be open and available for unloading of the freight off the truck with a loading dock or forklift. No commercial freight to home residences - ABSOLUTELY NO EXCEPTIONS.

e) Customers are responsible for any additional costs incurred if the freight company has problems with delivery, location, returns, change of address or commerical delivery when it is deemed residential delivery by the freight company.

f) Freight shipping is lower then UPS costs, depending on destination, weight and total number of pallets and can save you some money.

g) Freight shipments will arrive all at once, whereas UPS shipments can sometimes be spread out if UPS doesn't get all the boxes delivered on the same day. There is also far less chance of any damage when shipped freight. UPS must ship individual boxes which can increase the risk of shipment damage.

h) Freight shipments generally take longer then UPS, by 1 to 2 weeks.

i) You must count the boxes on the pallets. The Bill of Lading carried by the driver contains a box count, you must count the boxes on the pallets
and report anything missing back to the driver. This is the only way to make a claim if anything should come up missing.

j) There are no back orders with freight shipments. Anything missing from the order is simply refunded to you. Any extra shipping charges we have incurred are deducted from your refund.

k) Please - Do NOT bother us with a freight quote request if you are not prepared to actually order now. We are getting dozens of these requests and it takes time and critical resources to constantly obtain freight quotes that do not materialize into orders. Be prepared to complete a purchase if you ask for a freight quote.

l) We STRONGLY recommend that if you want to ship via freight, to go ahead and order through our shopping cart! This will get your order in right away. However, our cart will only do UPS rates, which means you'd be paying the higher shipping costs. We will refund your credit card the difference once we get your freight quote.

m) All freight shipments are subject to these restrictions and requirements, all customers agree to these terms by placing a freight shipment order.

Before we can get you a quote, we need several things:

1) An itemized order. This is a complete list of every item you are going to order. We need item numbers and quantities in writing (not by phone). An email works best. You can also simply add your items into the shopping cart, and then cut and paste the cart into an email and send it to us.

2) A finalized order. No changes later on -- I cannot emphasize this enough. NO CHANGES LATER ON, as this can really mess up the shipping quote on total weight, number of pallets required and so on. We require you to finalize your list of items before we obtain a freight quote. If you've already ordered, then we already have your list of items. We only want to obtain a quote once as this involves several people, so be CERTAIN you have provided us with a fully itemzied list and your address. We will also need to know if this is a commercial shipping address or residential address.

3) Your correct shipping address so we can calculate your quote accurately. Many people forget to provide us with the address -- no quote will be provided until you do.

4) Freight quotes are only valid for 1 week, due to the constantly changing freight rates. Please time your freight request accordingly. Be ready to place your order upon receiving our shipping quote. We will no longer obtain repeated freight quotes for customers that have not finalized their orders or make changes or are not ready to actually place their orders.

A few pointers:

There are better freight rates at 3500 lbs, and 5000 lbs. Consider increasing your order weight if you are close to these figures.

Commerical delivery (see above) is lower in cost then residential delivery for those that qualify.

You can also combine an order with a neighbor to increase total weight and take advantage of freight shipping, but you must ship to a single address if you do this. More then one delivery address is treated as two seperate shipments by the freight companies.

Drivers do not unpack pallets. The load is simply dropped and you are expected to unpack the pallets yourself. We've seen several cases where the customer has requested the pallets be put inside a garage and a pretty expensive fee ($150) will be charged by most freight companies for doing this, or for unpacking a pallet and carrying anything inside. You are responsible for any additional costs incurred and your credit card will be charged accordingly.
