A watered-down report for Asia contains this misleading title – “Unabated climate change would reverse the development gains in Asia”
Under a business-as-usual scenario, a 6 degree Celsius temperature increase is projected over the Asian landmass by the end of the century. Some countries in the region could experience significantly hotter climates, with temperature increases in Tajikistan, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and the northwest part of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) projected to reach 8 degree Celsius, according to the report, titled “A Region at Risk: The Human Dimensions of Climate Change in Asia and the Pacific.
When the permafrost fails, you can expect this to happen: Arctic stronghold of world’s seeds flooded after permafrost melts.
Does this mean that the world’s food supply is in trouble? Well sure. It’s always been in peril. The impacts of climate change are going to absolutely wreck food production.
If they can’t get these seeds safe, it means that if these crop species are lost for whatever reason, there is no backup plan either. I’ve looked. You might be shocked to learn that there really isn’t a plan to provide food if we lose our existing production capacity. These seeds are being set aside in case of catastrophic disaster (blight, insects, whatever) for crop diversity, but they’re not considered to be a part of a global backup plan for feeding the world during climate collapse. That plan does not actually exist.
The Siberian Times reports that 7,000 underground pingoes are set to explode in the Arctic region, releasing more methane and carbon dioxide directly into the atmosphere.
Scribbler has a post about this, but I don’t post anything of his anymore as readers know. I’m absolutely fed up with his dishonesty about renewables and his past ridicule of “climate alarmists” that he engaged in, especially on the methane threat which he chose to ignore while several of us “doomers” didn’t. He is now having to back track from this position. If you want to read it, you can go find it yourself, it doesn’t add anything that anyone here doesn’t already know.
Desdemona has a new article, Massive Permafrost Thaw Documented in Canada, Portends Huge Carbon Release, with the original article here. I don’t comment on Desdemona anymore, Jim started censoring commentary some time back.
This type of melting was expected and would account for the escalating levels of methane being detected. Once you grasp the scale of what’s happening, you’ll quickly realize that it is virtually impossible for this process to reverse itself. You’d have to have a seriously long deep-freeze to restore the frozen soil temperatures – and then you’d still be left with the billions of tons of CO₂ and methane still left in the atmosphere, raising temperatures higher and higher.

For those of you who may have secretly wondered if moving to Siberia would be a place of refuge… just avoid all the buildings if you do.
You may have a hard time building igloos too, or whatever. Walking on the ground will probably eject methane at every step.
It won’t be just buildings that suffer, but all the existing infrastructure, roads, bridges, rails, etc. Probably the least of our worries however. Check out the pictures, I’ve seen some others in recent months. Serious damage going on there already. It’s not 35 years in the future, it’s happening right now.
Louisiana massive floods – 18 ft of river rise in just 12 hours. 24″ of rain and counting.
Record flooding in Louisiana may get worse – “Colossal amounts of rain”.
Louisiana flooding, evacuation and rescues – There will be more.
Flooding Now Causing Most Crop Damages – The extremes of drought and rain are vying for 1st place.
Wildlife and Plants Feeling the Heat – “It’s a wicked problem”. “It’s almost all bad news. … We’re sleepwalking to disaster”.
Here are a few of the extreme events that have been occurring, there are thousands more being recorded.
This is bad news… At some point in the very near future, we’re going to be looking at a period of time encompassing as little as 200 hours where the world’s permafrost can potentially melt, dumping gigatons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.
Where the tipping point lies for runaway permafrost thaw is so uncertain that the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change doesn’t factor it into its reports. But new research shows we might reach it sooner than we think.
If you’ve been waiting for the Blood Moon, Shemitah, God’s Judgement, the September Surprise, or whatever ‘filter’ you routinely apply to unfolding world events, keep waiting. Nothing is going to happen. It’s glaringly obvious that the ‘grand delusion’ is landing dab smack square on the profit [sic] crowd.
I suppose that using the word “monster” again might be viewed as overkill or hyperbole. But considering what is happening on the climate front, probably not.
Ocean temperatures are going off the charts, which might explain the massive kills taking place on beaches. Either the animals are starving to death or trying to escape the ocean heat (or it’s anoxia).
A new giant-sized, 1 kilometer-wide crater is being reported in the Yakutia region of Siberia. I’ve not seen the pictures yet but will soon.
This is one of the smaller ones:
If true (and it probably is, since it was first reported by the Oil and Gas Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences), this is more evidence of destabilized methane in thawing permafrost.
