The Biosphere is Dying

Two articles to share:

Ocean Shock – the planet’s hidden climate change

Humanity has wiped out 60% of animal populations since 1970

These are topics of great importance and significance for the future survivability of the human race, but they’re also going to be broadly ignored. We cannot seem to bring ourselves to address our faults, and those inherent in the civilization we’ve constructed.

What Lies Beneath (all the lies and disinformation)

There is always more in the news on climate. And it is always bad – if you toss out the false claims, invisible technology and false hopium that is usually interjected into these articles.

If you just stick to the known facts, you will quickly realize that we’re still not being told the whole scope of the problem facing humanity. By now, you will probably also realize that this withholding has been deliberate for many, many years.

Worldwide investment in renewable energy reaches US$ 4 trillion – with little to show for it

This is a worthwhile article to read – Worldwide investment in renewable energy reaches US$ 4 trillion – with little to show for it

I’ve been harping on the the alternative stupidity expressed by Scribbler for a reason – alternative energy sources are NOT what is being claimed. I am no fan of oil, having covered the abuse, destruction, pollution and harm fossil fuels and the companies behind them have caused. But the alternative energy mantra being embraced by Haney and others is another false narrative.

Heatwaves Deaths Projected To Increase 5400%, Coastal Floods 3780%, Wildfires 138%, River Floods 54%, Windstorms 20%

You need to dig a little (read) to find this nugget in this article:

Deaths from heatwaves were projected to increase by 5,400 percent, coastal foods by 3,780 percent, wildfires by 138 percent, river floods by 54 percent and windstorms by 20 percent.  European heatwave deaths could skyrocket: climate study

Heatwaves are expected to do the worst damage, jumping from 11 people per million currently to about 700 per million.

Famine Early Warning System Warns 70+ Million May Need Emergency Food in 2017

The combined magnitude, severity, and geographic scope of anticipated emergency food assistance needs during 2017 is unprecedented in recent decades. Given persistent conflict, severe drought, and economic instability, FEWS NET estimates that 70 million people, across 45 countries, will require emergency food assistance this year. Four countries – Nigeria, Somalia, South Sudan, and Yemen – face a credible risk of Famine (IPC Phase 5). In order to save lives, continued efforts to resolve conflict and improve humanitarian access are essential. In addition, given the scale of anticipated need, donors and implementing partners should allocate available financial and human resources to those areas where the most severe food insecurity is likely.

6C- 8°C Temperature Increase Projections For Asia – Exceeding Survivable Wet Bulb Temperatures

A watered-down report for Asia contains this misleading title – “Unabated climate change would reverse the development gains in Asia

Under a business-as-usual scenario, a 6 degree Celsius temperature increase is projected over the Asian landmass by the end of the century. Some countries in the region could experience significantly hotter climates, with temperature increases in Tajikistan, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and the northwest part of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) projected to reach 8 degree Celsius, according to the report, titled “A Region at Risk: The Human Dimensions of Climate Change in Asia and the Pacific.

India under intense heat wave: Temperatures soaring to abnormal levels well ahead of the summer season: Maharashtra records record 46.5C (114F)

This is a dangerous development, months ahead of the normal summer heat: India under intense heat wave: Temperatures soaring to abnormal levels well ahead of the summer season: Maharashtra records record 46.5C (114F).

I doubt if a bunch of dead people will gain the attention of the idiotic world leaders who have chosen to play “Trumpy See, Trumpy Do”, but a heat wave of this magnitude this early is revealing that things are changing rapidly.

Puppeteers and Pulling Strings

The Trump agenda is not about putting America first. It’s about putting the privileged (monied) first. The Washington Post has a decent perspective on this, but it doesn’t go quite far enough.

Really, though, Trump’s policy reflects a deeper truth. Climate change denial is not incidental to a nationalist, populist agenda. It’s central to it. And that’s not a coincidence.

Massive Permafrost Thaw Documented in Canada, Portends Huge Carbon Release

Desdemona has a new article, Massive Permafrost Thaw Documented in Canada, Portends Huge Carbon Release, with the original article here. I don’t comment on Desdemona anymore, Jim started censoring commentary some time back.

This type of melting was expected and would account for the escalating levels of methane being detected. Once you grasp the scale of what’s happening, you’ll quickly realize that it is virtually impossible for this process to reverse itself. You’d have to have a seriously long deep-freeze to restore the frozen soil temperatures – and then you’d still be left with the billions of tons of CO₂ and methane still left in the atmosphere, raising temperatures higher and higher.

More War, Less Life, Less Planet

Updated with more content and quotes!

As expected, that idiotic monkey in the Whitehouse has announced the following:

The White House has proposed slashing the overall budget for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration by 17% and eliminating funding for research programs overseen by the agency.

Similar proposals have been sent to the Environmental Protection Agency, which could see its funding cut by nearly 25%.

The LIFE Project – Strategic Initiative for Reduced Human Survival

LIFE Project – Strategic Initiative for Reduced Human Survival

Profound impacts on global climate, ecosystems and human society caused by climate change and the resulting effects on human civilization are projected to be serious to severe throughout the entire world. Extensive study of the published literature and science underscores a distinct possibility that human extinction may even occur, along with nearly all of the life within the living biosphere. The Life Project proposes creation of protected bio-regional zones and habitation for human and biological survival (non-human life) on every habitable continent selected to ensure continuity of life for the human race and as many other species as possible.

Projected Water Stress

The following is a pdf document with images of present and projected water stress (1 page). I can’t post this all here, it simply won’t fit.

There are a couple of things to keep in mind when looking at this. At first glance, it appears that the colors indicate less stress in 2025, however that is not true. The second map is how much worse water stress will be increased from the present stress levels, which is already bad for many parts of the United States.

What Humans Have Done

Some of you may have seen this, but consider the “other” side of this story that the video fails to mention.

The title is “What would happen if humans disappeared“, but it should have been “What humans have done.”

The video is highly inaccurate with regards to the Earth recovering from our pollution. It would only be true in a perfectly re-balanced world (where the energy imbalance does not exist) – which will not happen for hundreds of thousands of years.

Extreme Events Escalating Worldwide Part IV

There is always plenty of news to report on the ongoing signs of collapse. These can each be called ‘extreme events’. Taken together, they portray a future that will be very difficult indeed.

There is a lot of hand-wringing over this – and (still) endless amounts of hopium by all the usual shills that ‘something can be done’ while steadfastly refusing to take into account our track record, our inability to resolve our differences, our lack of political will, and finally the hour-glass of time we never really had. My position on all this remains the same as always.

Mass Die Off Events Begin

Leave it to the American media to ignore most of these stories, or simply fail to connect the dots. As you read the articles, realize that the “mystery” of “why” this is happening is being deliberately ignored or glossed over. Red algae is caused by warming water. Warming water is caused by climate change.

The water is warming far ahead of the habitability of the animals that live there, impacting their food supply and oxygen levels.
