Some links (and commentary) from Lonewolf:

All these reports of food doom and increased grain prices are just the beginning: Wheat Surges to Record as U.S. Supply May Drop to 60-Year Low

“U.S. stockpiles will drop to 272 million bushels at the end of May, 6.8 percent less than expected a month ago and down 40 percent from the prior year, the Department of Agriculture said in a report today. Inventories will be the lowest since 1948 when farmers grew less and shipped more wheat overseas to help rebuilding countries after World War II, economists said.”

It’s more like a 100 year low I think. The new prices I’ve seen are quite a bit higher. Those of you waiting for the last minute are already too late. The warnings have been posted here for months, if not longer.

Why the price of ‘peak oil’ is famine tells what regular readers already know – we are in the downward spiral of collapse.

Sure, along with: Peak Soil, Peak Water, Peak Phosphate (and every other nutrient), Peak Climate NTM Peak People.
- more MSM pabullum for the massively flocked sheeple.
- if the flocking flock even began to ‘get it’ there WOULD be mass panic, straight-thru the shearing shed and into the slaughter house.
Peak Oil IS Peak People, ewe bleating morons.

More bad news here – Honeybee Deaths Resume in U.S. Hives, USDA Reports

- what’s with the almonds (vs other foods) and profits (vs people) bullshit ? – ‘try’ virtually all flowering plant crops – other than grains.
- seems as though the media ‘thinks’ that nutrition, starvation, ecocide (extinctions) and death itself are purely “economic” matters.

Can I hear an “Ah shit?” Here we go…

  1. You can have an “Amen”

Exponential growth in a finite environment is ‘one thing’ (physical impossibly) but within a declining (dying) environment is ‘something else again’. Resources decline. Economies Crash. Civilizations collapse. Societies Implode. People Die.

  2. I have been watching wheat prices daily and futures are increasing at about 2.8%.

My reading is that the net food crop loss from the death of pollinators is 30%. We should not forget too the steady loss of food quality due to higher CO2 concentrations, and the gradual loss of production due to steady temperature increases and the loss of water for irrigation. As I wrote earlier, rice crops are slowly declining with temperature increases and are expected to collapse at +2 degrees C. We have +2 in the bank already from past emissions of CO2. China’s reduced rice crops are creating a lot of demand for US wheat. Imagine what a rice crop collapse would mean for China, and imagine what it would mean for us, since China holds a huge amount of US debt. Debt we created to line the pockets of the super rich, and our death machine.

The article below really does a nice job of laying out facts and talking about the tipping point. We are at 383PPM on CO2, 33PPM above the absolute limit of 350PPM suggested by James Hansen.

It takes 25 to 30 years for global warming gasses to filter up into the upper atmosphere and do their work. Today’s global warming is based on early 1980′s emissions. I think this lag is the primary reason nothing will happen. If we stopped adding to the CO2 now, the climate will change for another 25 years.

I don’t know where analysts come up with the idea we can take more CO2 because the dose we are rolling with now and is kicking our ass ecologically IS BASED ON 1980 EMISSIONS.

While I believe our politicians are generally dull, cowardly, and self-serving, but even the best politician can not manage this problem. Imagine trying to sell the idea we must sacrifice now to prevent calamity in 2035 (if even that is possible). Ask Jimmie Carter re: peak oil.

People imagine that if we reduce polluting today, global warming will reduce tomorrow. This is dead wrong. Make that DEAD wrong.

BUT James Lovelock says it’s over anyway (listen to his speech on Ecoshock). Global warming is in a self-reinforcing positive feedback loop now, and the compounding of the loss of the reflective capacity of ice (albedo) is releasing CO2 bound up in the melting permafrost, and worse still, the release of much more methane. Methane causes 10 times more global warming than CO2.

It’s over. The question is only whether we will die from weather, food, water, or warming, and how soon. Of course, there is the shit-storm of societal collapse and civil unrest for good measure. And how could we forget tyranny? Remember what we used to say about a nuclear attack, “the living will envy the dead”.
