Where To Live And Collapse Survival

This is another prediction coming true – American’s moving to Canada in record numbers. This will only increase as the fascist police state worsens and climate change makes its impact felt on everyone.

I get a lot of questions about where to live. It’s not an easy decision and even harder to give ‘long distance advice’. There are several criteria to keep in mind however.

Ethanol Scam

Rolling Stone magazine has a great article on the ethanol scam.

The great danger of confronting peak oil and global warming isn’t that we will sit on our collective asses and do nothing while civilization collapses, but that we will plunge after “solutions” that will make our problems even worse. Like believing we can replace gasoline with ethanol, the much-hyped biofuel that we make from corn. Ethanol Scam: Ethanol Hurts the Environment And Is One of America’s Biggest Political Boondoggles

Thank You To All

I was going to write a “thank you” on the end of one or two of the recent blog posts to the blog commentators, but thought that this would undoubtedly miss some of you.

I want to thank those of you who have been making commentary contributions to the blog. Your commentary is much appreciated and beneficial to all. Many of you are keenly aware of specific issues, perhaps dear to your heart that I’m not so versed in. Your contributions here help others understand these issues with a deeper perspective. I hope you keep it up!

Pemex Predicts The End Of Oil

“Mexico, Jul 27 (Prensa Latina) Petroleos Mexicanos (PEMEX) announced that oil reserves may run out in seven years.”

Oh boy. And everyone still thinks we’re not at peak yet. Maybe this is why Chrysler can offer lifetime warranties. If Mexico cannot meet their “internal needs”, does that also mean Mexico will stop importing oil to the U.S.? Dumb rhetorical question… more evidence piling up that we can now count the years on one hand until full blown collapse.

Personal Collapse

[splitting this post since the two subject were widely apart – Admin]

By the way dear blog readers – there has been a huge upsurge in blog readership, including new members and links being found around the net. That’s great. It’s about 400% increase. But the website sales are almost zero, the worst they’ve ever been. This is at a time when I should be seeing a huge surge in sales, when money still buys something and all this extra traffic would be sending customers this way.

What Does This Mean???

Sent in by lonewolf –

Chrysler today leapfrogged every other car maker by extending its powertrain warranty on every new car and truck it sells to the life of the vehicle. The warranty will apply to the entire powertrain including the engine, transmission/transaxle, drive shafts, and axles. The new warranty goes into effect today, July 26, 2007 and applies to all new 2007s that are on the dealer lots as well as 2008 models. Lifetime Warranty

Simplify and Survive

The sheer inability to keep this present world afloat on the dwindling supply of cheap energy signifies a dramatic shift in lifestyles for the majority of mankind soon to come. Primarily for Americans and other developed nations, everything is going to get very, very expensive, so much so that they will be ‘forced’ to do without.

In time, many items will simply disappear and no longer be available. It is very likely that some items will literally disappear overnight too, because they will no longer be manufactured and distributed suddenly. Their sudden disappearance will trigger panic buying for replacements and remaining inventory, and this in turn, will contribute to the overall problem of supply and demand in an oil-depleted world.

Connect The Dots

Big temperature swings in Nevada. Perhaps engineering climate change is possible, but with some catastrophic side effects. Alaska is experiencing some of the biggest effects too, with shore line disappearing near the oil wells. This ties directly into the small melting glaciers that are causing additional sea level rise. When ice turns to water, the changes to climate causes England to flood, China floods, Texas floods.

Contraction and Collapse

There’s a very good blog on the housing crash – The Housing Bubble Blog that I suggest you take a look at. HUGE increases in foreclosures (551% in a year, oops, 725%).

I’ve noticed a lot of strangeness here in my own search for a new homestead. Land prices remain high, but nothing and I mean nothing, is selling. Lenders won’t loan on bare land either. They want you sign on the dotted line for a “stick loan” (construction loan), something I don’t want or need. Doing so would only increase a modest mortgage to a stupidly ridiculous mortgage (any mortgage right now is undesirable, but I’ve got to live somewhere).

Buy Feed Corn, They’re About To Stop Making It

These guys and others have a much louder “voice” then I do – but this fits exactly into what I’m trying to warn people about:

That bowl of Kellogg’s Cornflakes on the breakfast table, or the portion of pasta or corn tortillas, cheese or meat on the table is going to rise in price over the coming months as sure as the sun rises in the East. Welcome ladies and gentlemen to the new world food price shock, conveniently timed to accompany our current world oil price shock.

The Importance Of Cooperation – Soon To Be Essential

This will be one of the most important blog entries I’ve ever written because it is an issue that will affect 99% of my readers.

If you are like me, you are an average Joe Citizen, trying to make ends meet in an increasingly competitive and expensive world. As resource scarcity increases the costs of goods and services, everything from food to fuel, water to widgets, the day-to-day reality of finding ways to pay for the necessities of life becomes increasingly harder and harder to afford.

Finally!! Some Common Sense!

This is the ‘unspeakable topic’ that everyone is afraid to talk about:

The new head of the Science Museum has an uncompromising view about how global warming should be dealt with: get rid of a few billion people. Chris Rapley, who takes up his post on September 1, is not afraid of offending. ‘I am not advocating genocide,’ said Rapley. ‘What I am saying is that if we invest in ways to reduce the birthrate – by improving contraception, education and healthcare – we will stop the world’s population reaching its current estimated limit of between eight and 10 billion. Summer Warning

[Make of this what you will, but I can’t see any harm is sharing this warning – Admin]

Cheney Determined To Strike In US With WMD This Summer
Only Impeachment, Removal or General Strike Can Stop Him
By Webster G. Tarpley
7-21-7

The greatest threat now is “a 9/11 occurring with a group of terrorists armed not with airline tickets and box cutters, but with a nuclear weapon in the middle of one of our own cities.”
— Dick Cheney on Face the Nation, CBS, April 15, 2007

Secret Government

It’s no secret that the Bush government is trying to continue operating in secret. And it’s no secret that Congress has been unable to stop this nefarious activity.

What remains a secret however, is just how soon this evil will explode into full blown tyranny and martial law. Soon perhaps, by every indication “out there”.

Face To Face With Stone Age Man

“You are welcome here. But please tell your people how things are for the Hadzabe. Please do not add things and please do not take things away. Please just tell the world that we are dying.”More than wild animals or sleeping sickness, what Gonga fears is that rich men with guns and helicopters from the ‘new world’ are about to arrive on his doorstep, spelling the end for a tribe that, with the exception of headhunters in remote parts of Papua New Guinea, represent the only bridge between modern and ancient man.

The End Of Empire And The Step To Earth Community

This is an interesting article, written a few years back, The End of Empire and The Step To Earth Community.

Ahem… I hope you read that first, because doomer that I am, I fail to see how such thinking is going to take hold first before collapse sets in. The basic premises seems to be that we can and will consciously choose to take the right path before its too late, despite what our headstrong leaders do.

Unlucky To Have A Job

Worth posting for all to see, Unlucky To Have A Job. This article covers a lot of what is wrong with civilization today:

Workers are actually trying to obtain basics that were always naturally free — safe food, clean water, and materials for shelter and clothing right from the Earth.

The idea that we are better off in exchange for a lower quality of life, less time, less freedom and less social interaction and sharing, essentially, less of everything is worth debating. We’ve been brainwashed to not question these things.  Moving forward is almost always assumed to be better.
